A Lack of Faith

I once thought our future looked bright How naive to believe in such lies Incessantly followed by my own shadows throughout the night Was the world always so dark I once held onto my faith and it's light But it's embers have all but been washed away I can't continue knowing that ashes are all that awaits me Oh please God save my soul Was the storm just passing through What reprieve does deceive fleeting minds Seemingly hopeless, still seeing glimmers inside of my heart Could this war still be fought on I've spent years listening to snakes and their lies But their deception has all been revealed in time Trust has been broken, truths go unspoken, yet the world spins on Oh please God save their souls
