You probably heard about autism You probably read about it or seen it in a movie or TV show But you ain't know what the definition of autism truly is Until you hear it from an autistic person, like me I have to make a song about my mental condition And I'm hoping some of you will just shut up and listen I can't shy away from the thing that makes myself And I'm tired of the people trying to help You see me rapping? Of course I got a brain And when you get to know us, we're all the same Of course we're awkward; we can't help that That makes us who we are man, you can't change facts The normal people always trying to put us down Saying we're all too stupid to even get around Created "Autism Speaks" to kill off our kind Because they're afraid of what lies in our mind Don't get me started on how we're portrayed We're either savant geniuses or stupid slaves It effects everybody, you can't deny us civil rights Perhaps it's time for us to stand up and fight As an autistic person, I'm stuck between the eternal struggle of people who want to help out... And people who want to kill us all And it's very fucked indeed! They say we want to be alone... It's cause we don't trust anyone, they want to skin us to the bone They won't let us advance, they won't give me a job This happens so many times that I can't even sob I have to lie to people to avoid discrimination If only we got fair representation While you people are focusing on trying to survive You made it so hard for us to even provide Saying we're a dissapointment to our parents You want us to go away, your face really tells it What are you afraid of? We exist for a purpose But you hide the truth, because you are nervous It's ironic when woman is the majority And the whites aren't on top, do you feel me? I don't care if I'm a minority, I've always been one I would shake a brother's hand because I ain't dumb We are always in battle with these evil forces that seek to eliminate us all They have not succeded yet but we fear one day they might Everyday they chipping away our benefits And they're doing that because they know we exist We've even existed since the ancient times We're not an anomoly; we are divine They design the system to keep us trapped In mental healthcare facilities where we can't do jack They shoot innocent people but they keep us alive I guess all we really are is a piece of the pie And all you have to do is just speak your mind If only the public weren't so ignorantly blind... I could hire a therapist but I ain't made of money There's no therapy for free, you think this is funny? I have a gift, but often or not is a curse... At least my kids won't get abused in a hearse I treat people with kindness, respect and dignity Isn't that what the world is supposed to be?
