Gone

People don't know what they've got until it's gone They're havin' the time of their lives and then it's like, so long Like we take everything for granted I don't even understand it Loss is a very tough feelin' to grasp It makes us feel hopeless and sad Everybody takes things for granted Like the people around us who don't even imagine What an artist went through to get to where they are Dreamin' of huge success and fame as a superstar Picasso put his soul into masterpieces of art And yet they sold like piss, it really breaks my heart Then they turn around and sell them for huge bucks They get millions for those and it truly does suck It's like you pissin' on his grave for the art that he made These artists get played while you get paid They show support for you and then they leave like flakes They pile on pressure until they're crushed by the weight You never value what a person gave until they pass on You don't know what you've got until it's gone And you think it's easy for us to let go Like these feelings are a thing we can easily control It's human for us to just go with the flow. If you don't understand, I guess you'll never truly know For those of us invested, it's hard to move on It's like hearin' a swan sing it's final song It'll never be the same once it's lost forever That one close thing that always brought pleasure I doubt people would understand the value of such things When they'd be throwin' away all their feelins' I'd be devastated if I lost the love of my life And yet no one would care for my empathetic plight I value what I have because I lost so much I never forgotten my pain, my life has been rough I respect my family cause they're the only thing I got I never forget those lives who were taken from us And even though I'm just another statistic I wish for those people who're listenin' to this To not forget who I am, to remember who I be Take my values like MLK and continue this legacy My friends all love me The empire loves me My family loves me They'd do anything for me And even if you don't realize And if you're blind, can't see your eyes Just remember one thing You're going to miss me when I'm gone
